Wasserbahn—roughly 'water-road' in German—is documented in dealer listings as a 1979 limited-edition serigraph from Dallas John's surrealist truck series. John (b. 1945) came to printmaking through commercial silkscreening in Denver after abandoning a career in urban and transit planning, building his serigraphs from meticulous hand-prepared color layers, each impression signed and numbered in pencil. The German title is characteristic of the polyglot naming that runs through the series.
The certificate of authenticity issued by American Design Ltd. (Aurora, Colorado) records this impression as edition 13/25, 1979, hand-signed by the artist in pencil. The certificate is filed with the work and photographed as a secondary image.
