Description
Dealer listings document Machina Ex Deus as a signed and numbered surrealist serigraph of 1980 featuring the truck motif central to Dallas John's series of those years; the title playfully inverts the theatrical deus ex machina. John (b. 1945) turned from urban and transit planning to serigraphy in Denver, hand-pulling limited editions through layered stencils with a precision of color and perspective that reflects his training in geography. The work is wholly hand-made printmaking, with no computer processes involved.
