Description
Each work in Hardeman's 2016 Scarf Series is a one-of-a-kind pen plot: generative compositions written in custom openFrameworks (C++) software and drawn by a vintage HP7475 plotter, which Hardeman drives directly through ofxHPGL, an addon he wrote for the machine. Inspired by the pattern and drape of a folded scarf, each 11 × 17 inch drawing is generated from code and plotted only once, its dense, intricate line work taking many hours to complete on the slow, deliberate pen plotter.
