Description
Part of Daniela Kröhnert's STARDUST series (2020), this work translates space-telescope imagery of the Lagoon Nebula, a vast star-forming region in Sagittarius, into a dense field of stippled dots generated with Evil Mad Scientist's StippleGen and the artist's Rhinoceros/Grasshopper toolchain. It was executed on her self-built pen plotter in acrylic and metallic gel inks on black A3 paper, each plot taking five to eight hours and consuming several pens, so no two impressions in the edition of five are alike. The metallic inks shift from subtle to intensely glowing as lighting and viewing angle change across the day.
