Geradescharen

Frieder Nake

Frieder Nake’s Geradescharen (“Families of Straight Lines”) series uses arrays of straight lines generated through programmed procedures, Nake creates compositions in which repetition, variation, and structure interact to produce unexpected visual rhythms. Slight shifts in spacing, direction, or density transform rigid geometry into dynamic patterns that seem to pulse and evolve across the surface. As one of the pioneers of computer art, Nake used works such as Geradescharen to demonstrate that computational logic could become a creative medium—revealing how systematic processes and artistic intuition can work together to generate complexity from the simplest elements.
