Notes

From the 端山貢明アーカイブ (Hayama Kōmei Archive), item 133690 in the アーカイブプロジェクト category, registered 2026-06-17: https://d-commons.net/hayama/?c=&p=133690. Published by the 端山貢明アーカイブプロジェクト (Hayama Kōmei Archive Project), directed by 前川道博 (Michihiro Maekawa) of Nagano University, on the D-Commons platform, and licensed CC BY (表示). The source documents come from the 端山文庫, the papers kept in Hayama's laboratory at Tohoku University of Art and Design, digitised by the project with the agreement of his family; his autograph scores were given to the University History Archives of the Tokyo University of the Arts in 2026. Source: Record of the 端山貢明アーカイブプロジェクト (Hayama Kōmei Archive Project, led by Maekawa Michihiro of Nagano University); two colour photographs taken at the Ueno campus of the Tokyo University of the Arts. The archive publishes this item as 2 separate page scans rather than as a PDF; the download here was assembled from those scans in page order, each taken at the higher of the two resolutions the archive serves. A two-page photographic record of the donation of Hayama's papers to the Tokyo University of the Arts. The first page shows the university's entrance: a low stone wall carrying the name 東京藝術大学 in incised characters and, below it, TOKYO UNIVERSITY OF THE ARTS, with trees and campus buildings behind. The second shows the door of the receiving department — blue lettering on the door reads 東京藝術大学アーカイブセンター 大学史史料室 / GEIDAI Archives (Tokyo University of the Arts Archives) — papered with notices: a symposium poster on the university's past and coming 150 years, an exhibition poster, a flyer about a Taiwanese documentary film, and a list of newspaper write-ups. The archive's record explains what the pictures document. The Hayama Kōmei Archive Project, headed by Maekawa Michihiro, sorted Hayama's materials — autograph scores above all — and presented them to the University History Materials Room, which forms part of the university's Center for Future Creation and Succession, an institution working towards a 'circulating creative archive'. The donation was made with the agreement of Hayama's family, who also made the digitisation possible, and the university announced it on its own website under the heading of a report on receiving the manuscripts of Hayama Kōmei, a graduate of its composition department who studied with Messiaen. The originals are now permanently held there and available for research and performance; the project also digitised the donated scores, so that the works can be consulted even when the originals cannot. Contents as the document gives them: 東京藝術大学 正門 (The main entrance of the Tokyo University of the Arts) · 東京藝術大学アーカイブセンター 大学史史料室/GEIDAI Archives の入口 (The door of the University History Materials Room, Tokyo University of the Arts Archives). People named: 端山貢明 (Hayama Kōmei), 前川道博 (Maekawa Michihiro), オリヴィエ・メシアン (Olivier Messiaen). Noted: Neither photograph is dated or captioned. The notices on the door carry 2025 dates (newspaper mentions of 16, 19 and 21 October 2025 and an exhibition of 21–30 November 2025), so the pictures were made no earlier than November 2025; the archive registered the record on 17 June 2026. The record does not list the individual items donated, nor give a count of the manuscripts.
