The source documents come from the 端山文庫, the papers kept in Hayama's laboratory at Tohoku University of Art and Design, digitised by the project with the agreement of his family; his autograph scores were given to the University History Archives of the Tokyo University of the Arts in 2026. A single-sheet handbill for the fourth contemporary music concert given by the Japan Musicians' Club, at Yamaha Hall. Hayama's 弦楽三重奏曲 (String Trio) closed the evening and is marked 初演 — a premiere. It was played by Abe Fujio (violin), Kobashi Yukio (viola) and Matsushita Shūya (cello). Hayama later wrote that the piece had been commissioned by the Musicians' Club, written over about two months in the summer of 1960, and was the first work he presented after returning from France in 1959; he said he had deliberately put what he learned in Europe to the back of his mind and composed by going back to the point where he first began writing music, and that he worked consciously from self-sufficient units, the opening three bars of the first movement constituting that unit. Four works preceded it: Wada Norihiko's ピアノのための奏鳴曲 (Sonata for piano), played by the composer; Ishiketa Mareo's 鎮魂詞 (Requiem) for soprano and piano, sung by Seyama Eiko with Takahashi Yoriko; Takemitsu Tōru's 二つのフルートのためのマスク (Masque for two flutes), with Hayashi Ririko as first and Noguchi Ryū as second flute; and three songs by Hashimoto Kunihiko — 斑猫, 薊の花 and お菓子と娘 — sung by Shiba Reiko with Kawamura Miyuki. Members' tickets were 200 yen and on sale at the usual agencies. No movement titles are given for the trio on this sheet. Contents as the document gives them: 1 和田則彦:ピアノのための奏鳴曲 (Wada Norihiko: Sonata for piano) — ピアノ 和田則彦 · 2 石桁真礼生:鎮魂詞 (Ishiketa Mareo: Requiem) — ソプラノ 瀬山詠子、ピアノ 高橋従子 · 3 武満徹:二つのフルートのためのマスク People named: 端山貢明 (Hayama Kōmei), 阿部富士雄 (Abe Fujio, violin), 小橋行雄 (Kobashi Yukio, viola), 松下修也 (Matsushita Shūya, cello), 和田則彦 (Wada Norihiko, composer and pianist), 石桁真礼生 (Ishiketa Mareo), 瀬山詠子 (Seyama Eiko, soprano), 高橋従子 (Takahashi Yoriko, piano), 武満徹 (Takemitsu Tōru), 林リリ子 (Hayashi Ririko, flute), 野口竜 (Noguchi Ryū, flute), 橋本国彦 (Hashimoto Kunihiko), 柴玲子 (Shiba Reiko, soprano), 川村深雪 (Kawamura Miyuki, piano). Noted: No readings are printed on the sheet; 阿部富士雄, 小橋行雄, 松下修也, 高橋従子, 柴玲子 and 川村深雪 are romanised from the characters and the readings may differ. Hayama's own account of the trio's commission and composition comes from the 1962 programme book (item 9953), not from this sheet.
