From the 端山貢明アーカイブ (Hayama Kōmei Archive), item 55457 in the 関連記事 category, registered 2023-07-10: https://d-commons.net/hayama/?c=&p=55457. Published by the 端山貢明アーカイブプロジェクト (Hayama Kōmei Archive Project), directed by 前川道博 (Michihiro Maekawa) of Nagano University, on the D-Commons platform, and licensed CC BY (表示). The source documents come from the 端山文庫, the papers kept in Hayama's laboratory at Tohoku University of Art and Design, digitised by the project with the agreement of his family; his autograph scores were given to the University History Archives of the Tokyo University of the Arts in 2026. Source: 電通報 (Dentsū Hō, the house paper of the advertising agency Dentsu), issue no. 2402, page 1 and a strip from page 3, mounted on a sheet with the masthead. Said by the archive to have been clipped by Hayama; the Information Week material is ringed in red crayon.. Dated: issue no. 2402, a Wednesday; the day and month are torn away. Internal evidence points to October 1973. The archive publishes this item as 1 separate page scan rather than as a PDF; the download here was assembled from those scans in page order, each taken at the higher of the two resolutions the archive serves. A press clipping, not a writing, but a dateable snapshot of the world Hayama was working in. The lead article, headlined 「民間行事も多彩に/情報化週間 昨年を上回る盛況さ」, reports the second annual Information Week (情報化週間), held in the first week of October on the initiative of the Ministry of International Trade and Industry to spread accurate knowledge and raise public awareness of informatisation. The government ceremony at the Hotel New Otani in Chiyoda, Tokyo, with addresses by the MITI and Posts and Telecommunications ministers, gave awards to firms and individuals, to outstanding information-processing systems and to prize-essay winners. The private events are the interesting part. The 映像情報フェア (Image Information Fair), run by the 生活映像情報システム開発協会 at the World Trade Center Building in Minato, Tokyo, showed for the first time a model of an experimental model town — a two-way communication system over coaxial cable planned for Higashi-Ikoma outside Osaka for 1976. A 「レディス・コンピュータ・サロン」 run by the Information Processing Training Centre drew young women from Tokyo and its suburbs for lectures and exercises on computers in daily life, down to generating dress patterns. The 日本情報処理開発センター staged a 「生活と情報化展」 at the Odakyū department store in Shinjuku; twenty-three venues held events nationwide. A photograph shows Dokō Toshio, chairman of the image-information association, cutting the tape. For the archive the sheet records what Hayama was watching: the moment when informatisation became a public-relations campaign with ribbon-cuttings and department-store displays, five years before he began arguing in print that computer animation should be treated as a social medium rather than a technique. People named: 土光敏夫 (Dokō Toshio), 中曽根康弘 (Nakasone Yasuhiro, named as 通産相), 久野忠治 (Kuno Chūji, named as 郵政相), 鈴木恭二 (Suzuki Kyōji). Noted: The clipping's date is torn away. The issue number (2402), the weekday (Wednesday), the statement that this was the second Information Week, the use of 昭和五十一年 (1976) in the future tense and an adjacent notice of the founding of Taiyō Kōbe Bank (1 October 1973) together place it in October 1973; the year is an inference, not printed. The ministers are named only by surname and office (曽根 for 中曽根, 久野); the identifications given here follow the offices held in October 1973. Hayama's own authorship of the clipping is the archive's attribution — it says the scrap is 「端山氏がスクラップしたとされる」, i.e. reported rather than established. The red ring and the adjacent 広告人語 column and bank-merger notice are part of the same sheet but unrelated to Information Week. The archive gives no year in the title; the year field here records the inferred 1973.
