(Hayama Kōmei Archive), item 9980 in the 音楽(演奏会) category, registered 2022-10-08: https://d-commons.net/hayama/?c=&p=9980. Published by the 端山貢明アーカイブプロジェクト (Hayama Kōmei Archive Project), directed by 前川道博 (Michihiro Maekawa) of Nagano University, on the D-Commons platform, and licensed CC BY (表示). The source documents come from the 端山文庫, the papers kept in Hayama's laboratory at Tohoku University of Art and Design, digitised by the project with the agreement of his family; his autograph scores were given to the University History Archives of the Tokyo University of the Arts in 2026. Source: Japanese Society for Contemporary Music (日本現代音楽協会), with Agency for Cultural Affairs support and backing from the Japan Symphony Foundation; six evenings at the Dai-ichi Seimei Hall and Hibiya Public Hall. ¥2,000 per evening. Dated: Hayama's sonata was played on the third evening, Wednesday 20 February 1980, 7:00 p.m.; the series ran from 7 February to 21 March 1980. The archive publishes this item as 5 separate page scans rather than as a PDF; the download here was assembled from those scans in page order, each taken at the higher of the two resolutions the archive serves. The folded brochure for 現代の音楽展'80 / Exhibition of Contemporary Music '80, six evenings presented by the Japanese Society for Contemporary Music. Hayama's ピアノ・ソナタ was played on the third evening, 20 February at the Dai-ichi Seimei Hall, by Endō Ikuko; the brochure gives its duration as fifteen minutes and dates it 1963, which the archive notes is probably an error for 1960. The evening was produced by Matsumura Teizō and set the sonata among Miyoshi Akira's En deuil and Hommage (Ensemble Élan), Akutagawa Yasushi's パプア島土蛮の歌 (Tsunemori Hisako, Tsukada Yoshio), Ishiketa Mareo's 月に吠える with Hirano Tadahiko and Aruga Seimon, and Takemitsu Tōru's Water-ways, in which Ichiyanagi Toshi played the piano. The rest of the series: 7 February, a percussion evening produced by Shimoyama Hifumi, six premieres with Aruga Seimon, Sugawara Jun and others; 14 February, an evening drawn from the ISCM World Music Days, with Japanese premieres of Luca Lombardi and Nikos Mamangakis and works by Kobashi Minoru, Shinohara Makoto and Yuasa Jōji, the last two involving the Noh actor Kanze Hideo; 21 February, produced by Urata Kenjirō, with Koyama Kaoru, Hayashi Hikaru, Higo Ichirō, Miki Minoru and Urata; 28 February, produced by Hirose Ryōhei, with Aoki Takayoshi, Matsumoto Hinoharu, Yoshida Susumu's ENKA, Hirose, Miki and Noda Teruyuki; and 21 March at Hibiya Public Hall, Akiyama Kazuyoshi conducting the Tokyo Symphony in Sahara Shūichi, Natsuda Shōkō, Mori Junko and Yamada Izumi. Tickets were ¥2,000 a night. (Matsumura Teizō, producer of the third evening), (Shimoyama Hifumi, producer of the first evening), (Urata Kenjirō, producer of the fourth evening), (Hirose Ryōhei, producer of the fifth evening), (Akiyama Kazuyoshi, conductor). Noted: The brochure dates Hayama's Piano Sonata 1963; the archive adds a note that the composition year is thought to be 1960, which matches the 1960 premiere programme (items 9946 and 9947). The archive's title gives the date 02/07, which is the first evening of the series rather than the night Hayama's sonata was played. The fifth evening is printed 2月28日(月) although 28 February 1980 was a Thursday. The Yuasa item on the second evening is given as 95分, almost certainly a misprint for 9.5 minutes.
