Notes

From the 端山貢明アーカイブ (Hayama Kōmei Archive), item 9981 in the 音楽(演奏会) category, registered 2022-10-08: https://d-commons.net/hayama/?c=&p=9981. Published by the 端山貢明アーカイブプロジェクト (Hayama Kōmei Archive Project), directed by 前川道博 (Michihiro Maekawa) of Nagano University, on the D-Commons platform, and licensed CC BY (表示). The source documents come from the 端山文庫, the papers kept in Hayama's laboratory at Tohoku University of Art and Design, digitised by the project with the agreement of his family; his autograph scores were given to the University History Archives of the Tokyo University of the Arts in 2026. Source: 沢井忠夫合奏団 (Sawai Tadao Ensemble), second concert; ABC Hall, Shiba Park, Tokyo; ¥2,000, unreserved. Dated: Friday 27 June 1980, 7:00 p.m.. The archive publishes this item as 1 separate page scan rather than as a PDF; the download here was assembled from those scans in page order, each taken at the higher of the two resolutions the archive serves. A single-sheet flyer, printed in red on white with a bold wave-like line pattern filling the lower half, for the second concert of the Sawai Tadao Ensemble at the ABC Hall in Shiba Park. Hayama's 曲舞 (Kusemai) was fourth of five works and is marked 改定初演 — the premiere of a revised version. His last composition, it belongs with 直会 to the group of late pieces written for Japanese instruments and percussion, and it is the only piece here written for koto ensemble. The programme set it among Ishiketa Mareo's 箏のための組曲 (Suite for koto), Fujita Masanori's 霧海 (a commissioned premiere), Sawai Tadao's own 三つのパラプレーズ (Three paraphrases), and a work with the title still undecided by Nagasawa Katsutoshi, also a commissioned premiere. The Kanze-school Noh performer Nakamori Shōzō appeared as a guest. The sheet gives ticket outlets at the Shibuya Tōkyū Kankō play guide and Kyūkyodō in Ginza, and enquiries to the Sawai Koto Institute in Meguro and to Ishigaki Kiyomi in Toshima; tickets were ¥2,000, all seats unreserved. No duration, instrumentation or movement list is given for Kusemai, and the flyer does not say when or for whom the original version was written. Contents as the document gives them: 箏のための組曲 — 石桁真礼生 (Ishiketa Mareo: Suite for koto) · 霧海(委嘱初演)— 藤田正典 (Fujita Masanori: Sea of Mist, commissioned premiere) · 三つのパラプレーズ — 沢井忠夫 (Sawai Tadao: Three Paraphrases) · 曲舞(改定初演)— 端山貢明 (Hayama Kōmei: Kusemai, premiere of the revised version) · 題未定(委嘱初演)— 長沢勝俊 (Nagasawa Katsutoshi: title undecided, commissioned premiere) · 賛助出演 中森晶三(観世流)(Guest: Nakamori Shōzō, Kanze school). People named: 端山貢明 (Hayama Kōmei), 沢井忠夫 (Sawai Tadao, composer and leader of the ensemble), Noted: The flyer writes 改定初演; the archive's description writes 改訂初演. Both mean the premiere of a revised version. No performers other than the ensemble and the guest are named, and the flyer gives no date for the original version of Kusemai (given elsewhere as 1978).
