Vera Molnar’s 6 Collages, Carré Coupé en 2, série B, no. 1–6 (2018) exemplifies her lifelong exploration of order, variation, and systematic experimentation through geometry. The work consists of six related compositions derived from a simple square form that is progressively altered, cut, rotated, and reconfigured. Through minimal interventions, Molnar transforms a strict geometric structure into a sequence of dynamic visual events.
Rendered with bold red geometric elements against a clean ground, the series demonstrates her fascination with repetition and controlled disruption. Each composition appears connected by an underlying logic while simultaneously asserting its own distinct rhythm and balance. Slight shifts in angle, fragmentation, and placement create tension between precision and spontaneity—an approach central to Molnar’s practice.
As one of the earliest artists to engage algorithmic thinking and computer-assisted methods, Molnar often described working with “1% disorder” introduced into perfect systems.
