Loosely Tied, 1985: a color study composed on an Apple Lisa — whose display was black and white — and printed on the color inkjet attached to it. Rhyne could see her composition only in monochrome until the print emerged in color; by her account, the Apple engineers and designers were surprised the Lisa could produce it at all. She was a programmer analyst at Stanford's Center for Information Technology at the time, which makes this letter-size sheet a genuine artifact of personal computing's first act.
