Phytomechatronics is Karson's own coinage — the speculative meeting point of plants and machines that runs through all her recent work — and this India ink plotter drawing carries the framework's name. Karson ran the University of Vermont's FabLab for a decade (2014–2024) and founded its Plant Machine Design Group; the drawing sits at the exact junction the title names.
