Arno Beck

Arno Beck (b. 1985, Bonn) is an artist I admire for his witty zinger approach: he renders the digital world with defiantly analog tools — typewriter drawings built from tens of thousands of keystrokes, woodblock prints of pixel imagery on Japanese paper, plotter drawings in oil on canvas. He trained in painting at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf, finishing as Eberhard Havekost's Meisterschüler in 2014, and his screen-native imagery — game sprites, interfaces, dialog boxes — has shown at DAM in Berlin, Nino Mier in Los Angeles, Joshua Liner in New York, and Schierke Seinecke in Frankfurt. I hope to meet him one day.
