Origin (billboard), 2024 by Auriea Harvey The character of Persephone, who in mythology is forced to become queen of the underworld but returns above ground each spring, has special meaning for the artist as a guardian of borders. Harvey imagines a ritual sculpture of the tragic heroine, as a being who watches over the origin point of virtual worlds as well. In some strange ritual she convenes with her selves and the spot marked in the center is the 0,0,0 coordinate inside every 3D space. One is left to wonder if the tension of this moment were broken would the solidity of our tangible reality break as well.
