Description
The most abstract of the collection's Collards: a tan jug and yellow daffodils dissolve into slabs and grids of paint — a blue-grey plaid below, a bar of tan above — until the still life is nearly pattern. The machine's horizontal passes are the picture's whole grammar. Collard photographed real flowers, translated the image through software matched to his own oil palette, and let the painting machine he built brush it onto canvas.
