Targz
Targz is a French pen-plotting artist who keeps his name to himself. Pronounced "tar-gz." He built his own large-format plotter, an OpenBuilds frame with a 3D-printed drawing head, capable of A0. No art school, no engineering degree, no programming courses. His path came from Lego, a taste for geometric shapes, and a career in creative programming, before Vera Molnar and Bridget Riley pointed him toward Op Art. The work runs on moiré interference, truchet tiling, and variable width strokes, worked in Molotow acrylics, Ecoline watercolor, pump markers and Parallele pens. At Plotterfest 2024 in Peekskill, a nudge from Nima Nabavi got him painting on canvas for the first time. He has shown from the Grand Palais in Paris to New York.
