Stefan Themerson
1910–1988
Stefan Themerson (born Poland, 1910) was an avant-garde writer and filmmaker who studied physics and architecture in Warsaw before making experimental films combined with writing. He moved to Paris in 1938, served in the Polish army, and settled in England in 1942, where he wrote in English and co-founded Gaberbocchus Press. His 'philosophical fantasies' include Bayamus, Professor Mmaa's Lecture, and Cardinal Pölätüo. A contributor to Jasia Reichardt's Cybernetics, Art and Ideas (1971).
