Stardrive

Stardrive was the synthesist-inventor Robert Mason, who spent two years building his own synthesizer because existing models couldn't voice the chords and funk phrasings he wanted, then billed the group as the first rock band with synthesizer as lead instrument. Intergalactic Trot (Elektra, 1973) is the proof of concept; almost nothing encyclopedic survives about Mason — the promo copy is the biography.
