Shawn Jackson

Shawn Jackson, who codes and plots as computershawn, is a Los Angeles software engineer and generative artist — a mechanical engineer who wandered into creative technology by way of JPL, Kaiser Permanente's innovation lab, and Vimeo, with an MFA in Media Design Practices from ArtCenter along the way. His AxiDraw runs on Penelope, a GUI he wrote for its Python API, drawing Perlin-noise waves and geometric patterns from p5.js sketches he exports to SVG; his own list of affinities runs to "bleeps and bloops, blinking LEDs, haptic feedback, and dogs." He visited my workshop, and afterward sent the plot that's now in the collection — a gift.
