Saskia Freeke has made a new piece of generative art every single day since January 1, 2015 — years of geometry, structure, and play, shared as she goes. I admire the practice enormously, and I put my money where my admiration was: I was one of the five backers of her 2017 Make 100 Kickstarter, which turned twenty of her daily algorithmic series into one-of-a-kind 50 × 50 cm giclée prints — only a handful were ever claimed, and she promised the rest would never be sold. Freeke is a Dutch artist, creative coder, and educator based in Amsterdam, with an MA in Computational Arts from Goldsmiths (2017); she has taught physical computing at Goldsmiths and visual design at HKU University of the Arts Utrecht.
