Robin McKinnon Wood

1931–1995

Robin McKinnon Wood (born Geneva, 1931) read mathematics and physics at Trinity College, Cambridge. With Gordon Pask he formed System Research Limited in 1953 to study adaptive systems, first modulating lights by music for the theatre and then building adaptive teaching machines. From 1958 he consulted for the Cambridge Language Research Unit on machine translation, developing an interest in computer programming and languages for human–machine interaction. A contributor to Jasia Reichardt's Cybernetics, Art and Ideas (1971).
