Rita Ernst
Swiss · b. 1956
Rita Ernst (b. 1956, Windisch) is a Swiss constructive artist who splits her life between Zurich and Trapani, Sicily — and her geometry between the two as well: grid systems and color fields that carry Mediterranean light through concrete-art discipline. Trained at Basel's School of Design in the mid-1970s, she showed Rhythmen I–XVI at the Kunsthaus Zürich in 1992, has appeared repeatedly at Museum Haus Konstruktiv and Museum Ritter, and took the Conrad Ferdinand Meyer Prize in the early 1990s. Painting, prints, and architectural interventions, all from the same rulebook.
