Ralf Hoyer / Susanne Stelzenbach
German
Ralf Hoyer (b. 1950, East Berlin) and Susanne Stelzenbach (b. 1947) are East German composers who worked together across piano, tape, and live electronics. Hoyer trained as a sound engineer at the Hanns Eisler academy and worked at VEB Deutsche Schallplatten — the GDR state label, a neat provenance for a GDR-era record — before studying composition at the Akademie der Künste; Stelzenbach took her piano diploma at the Hanns Eisler in 1976 and taught there before turning to composition and sound installations.
