Philippe Caya AKA 0xPhiiil
Philippe Caya, who works as 0xPhiiil, is a Montreal visual artist and — his words — "an artist trapped inside a programmer's body." An engineer by training, he moves between generative algorithms, pen plotters, and traditional painting, with a minimalist streak that runs straight back to De Stijl. He released Zupermat on Art Blocks (2022), a run of fxhash projects from All You Deserve to Freehand, and Beginnings on Plottables — fully on-chain plots whose tokens carry a claim on a signed physical drawing — and has shown from his Montreal solo exhibitions to Art Blocks' Marfa activations. We met at the Art Blocks event in Marfa, Texas. I have his work both physically plotted by him and digitally — the physical plots still need to be added to this collection.
