Nicolas Collins

Nicolas Collins (b. 1954) studied with Alvin Lucier and worked with David Tudor, then became hardware hacking's professor-laureate: microcomputers on stage in the early 1980s, the essential textbook Handmade Electronic Music (2006), two decades editing Leonardo Music Journal, and a professorship of sound at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Devil's Music (1985) turns live radio — scanned, sampled, stuttered through hacked electronics — into raw material.
