Morton Subotnick

Morton Subotnick (b. 1933) co-founded the San Francisco Tape Music Center with Pauline Oliveros and Ramon Sender and helped shape Don Buchla's modular synthesizer — then used it for Silver Apples of the Moon (1967), the first electronic work commissioned expressly for the LP medium (Nonesuch), now in the National Recording Registry. The Wild Bull (1968) and Touch (1969) continued the run. No relation to the band Silver Apples, one shelf over. I play all three of these.
