Mikiko Ino
Japanese
Mikiko Ino is the reason KinoSaito exists: born in Japan, she built a New York fashion-buying consultancy (LLJ USA, founded 1990) that connected designers like Jason Wu and Oscar de la Renta with Japanese retailers — and then met the painter Kikuo Saito in 2007. Together they bought the old parochial school in Verplanck in 2014; after Saito's death in 2016 she founded the KinoSaito nonprofit in his name (2018), opened its doors in 2021, and has run it — and his estate — ever since, while keeping a hand in fashion. At the center's community annuals an artist billed simply as MIKIKO shows small works; the piece in this collection is attributed to her.
