Michael Zimmerman AKA MZOPTICS

American

Michael Zimmerman is an Omaha, Nebraska–based artist who works under the name MZOPTICS, exploring the intersection of optical art, psychedelic imagery, and geometric pattern. With a background in screen printing and digital art, Zimmerman uses computer-generated designs and pen plotters to translate intricate visual systems into physical artworks. His practice investigates how simple shapes, carefully calibrated color relationships, and layered patterns can produce the illusion of movement and visual disorientation. Influenced by the pioneering Op Art movement, including Bridget Riley, Zimmerman combines mathematical structure with experimentation, creating vibrant compositions that challenge the viewer’s perception and reveal unexpected effects through repetition and variation.
