Kurt Ingerl
Kurt Ingerl (1935–1999) was an Austrian sculptor and one of the first people to make computer art in Austria. Born in Ternitz in Lower Austria on 28 May 1935, he studied painting, graphics and sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna and at the University of Vienna between 1953 and 1963, and was assistant for sculpture at the University of Applied Arts Vienna from 1969 to 1972. He is known for hyperrealist figures laced into corsets, and, in parallel, for printed work made with a computer — the portfolio Bau und Spiel runs to 48 lithographs. He served as vice-president of the Society of Visual Artists Austria from 1977 until his death, and from 1992 as president of the Professional Association of Austrian Sculptors. He died in Wiener Neustadt on 4 March 1999.
