kenconsumer AKA Ken Wiatrek
Ken Wiatrek, also known as kenconsumer, is an American artist, curator, and creative director based in Berlin. His multidisciplinary practice explores the relationship between human creativity and technology, particularly the tension between digital precision and the imperfections of physical, handmade production. Wiatrek combines hand-drawing, digital processes, coding, and machine-assisted techniques—including pen-plotter drawing—to translate digital ideas into tangible artworks. ([Ragnar Digital][1]) Wiatrek earned a BFA in Studio Art with an emphasis on photography and digital media from Lamar University in 1998 and subsequently participated in the University of Houston's post-baccalaureate MFA program. Before concentrating on his art practice, he worked in the anime industry, including as Director of Marketing at ADV Films. Since relocating to Europe in 2008, he has been active across Berlin's art, music, and cultural communities. ([Ragnar Digital][1]) His work frequently examines **the intersection of analog and digital systems, authorship, automation, and the human-machine relationship**. His practice includes plotter drawings, paintings, digital works, and mixed-media projects. In 2024, Wiatrek was included in *Synths* at LC Art Lab/Luisa Catucci Gallery in Berlin, an exhibition examining the convergence of human creativity and technological processes. ([artatberlin.com][2]) Wiatrek is also involved in the Berlin art community as the founder/director of **SP2 Contemporary** and a founding member of **tender.art**. He hosts *Arbitrarily Deterministic*, a podcast focused on artists and creators working at the intersection of art, technology, and popular culture.
