Joel Chadabe

Joel Chadabe (1938–2021) coined "interactive composing" — the computer as responsive musical partner, not playback device. He directed SUNY Albany's electronic music studio from 1965, co-designed the room-filling CEMS system with Robert Moog, and founded the Electronic Music Foundation in 1994. Rhythms for Computer and Percussion (Lovely Music, 1981) is the term made audible, in duet with percussionist Jan Williams.
