Heliodoro Santos (b. 1984, Colima, Mexico) trained as a painter and works where painting meets data, internet culture and machine vision. He writes algorithmic systems that generate and reinterpret landscape, and puts them back into paint: oil on canvas executed by CNC plotters and drawing robots he builds for the purpose. His stated aim is to reprogram machine vision "to contemplate rather than control," turning tools built for surveillance and data extraction into instruments for looking. Recent solo shows include Meta-scapes at Colonna Contemporary in Philadelphia (2025) and Al aire libre at Tech Contemporary in Copenhagen (2024).
