Emma Deng
Emma Deng is an artist, researcher, and designer studying cognitive neuroscience and fine art (with an HCI minor) at Carnegie Mellon, working "the intersection of art, technology, and human cognition." Her Drawing with Machines project built a full pipeline from photograph to plot — superpixel segmentation, hue clustering, and multi-angle hatching so overlapping marker strokes optically mix like ink — run through vpype to an AxiDraw on yupo, watercolor, and Xuan papers. She showed with Golan Levin's studio at the Bantam Tools Machine Arts Gallery in Peekskill in January 2026. I am a fan of Emma's composition and painting style both — I hope to meet her one day.
