Dick Hyman

Dick Hyman (b. 1927) is a jazz pianist of encyclopedic range — Woody Allen's longtime film scorer, NEA Jazz Master (2017) — who took a 1969 detour into the Moog and accidentally made history: "The Minotaur," from The Electric Eclectics of Dick Hyman, reached No. 38 on the Hot 100 as the first Moog hit single. Beck later sampled the album's "The Moog and Me" for "Sissyneck." This shelf holds the LP twice, plus the 7-inch on which "The Minotaur" was the B-side that outgrew its A-side.
