Carl Stone

Carl Stone (b. 1953) studied under Morton Subotnick and James Tenney at CalArts and became a pioneer of live computer music — performing with computers on stage since 1986, his life split between California and Japan, his pieces named after favorite restaurants (Woo Lae Oak, Mae Yao). The Village Voice called him "the king of sampling" and one of the best composers living in the country.
