BBC Radiophonic Workshop

The BBC Radiophonic Workshop (1958–1998) was the BBC's in-house electronic sound unit, founded by Desmond Briscoe and Daphne Oram to make tape-manipulated sound for radio and television — most famously the Doctor Who theme, composed by Ron Grainer and realized electronically by Delia Derbyshire. Two of its LPs are on this shelf: the "pink album" (originally issued 1968; ours is the 1971 BBC Records issue), with tape-cut music by Derbyshire, John Baker, and David Cain, and the 1975 all-original showcase of the later, synthesizer-equipped roster.
