Aron Warszawski

Aron Warszawski is the most elusive member of MBB Computer Graphics, the 1971–72 group at the aerospace company Messerschmitt-Bölkow-Blohm in Ottobrunn where engineers were let loose to make art on company machines. Working in MBB's computing department, he wrote FORTRAN IV programs for an IBM 360 Model 50 mainframe and drew them on the giant Kongsberg Kingmatic flatbed plotter, editioning the results as serigraphs. His documented works from the project are Families of Circles (1972) and, jointly with Frank Böttger, Circle Sequences (1972). The group's prints were published in Johann Willsberger's Computer Graphics (1972, published by MBB itself) and made for the cultural program around the 1972 Munich Olympics. When the project ended, Warszawski left the group — and effectively left the record: even the dealer who has researched MBB Computer Graphics most closely could learn almost nothing more about him. No reliable birth date, nationality, or later career is published; the honest biography is two remarkable years of circles.
